In order to keep the game honest, we need to follow some rules. The MVP League reserves the right to add/change any and all rules during a season if need be. There will be prior notification of any rule changes. The will always be a few situations that come up when we will have to review an event and judge on it. If you follow these rules we can avoid any misunderstandings.
Overall League Rules
No game modifications will be allowed, such as Stadium updates and Uniform updates. You should only use the CURRENT LEAGUE ROSTERS for league games. And only league approved patches
You must have a League AOL instant messenger ID. Do not allow anyone to use this ID or your EA sports ID. We do not want to try and arrange a game with your wife or girlfriend.
The use of foul language during a game will not be tolerated! We take these complaints very seriously! What you think is OK language use may be found offensive to others. So watch what you say. A print screen is valid proof and will be reviewed. Because your EA Sports name shows up next to anything you type for chat purposes, this is sufficient evidence to take disciplinary action.
We play 3 games a week. If you can not make the time to play 3 games in one week, then this league is not for you. If you miss a game for any reason you need to arrange to make that game up as soon as possible. If you are going on vacation or will not be available for a while, use the message board to let everyone know. And then make the games up when you return.
You must own a real copy of Triple Play Baseball,
Rotation Rules
Failure to abide by these rules will result in a loss for your team.
We use a 3 man rotation. You can only use each pitcher once per week. If you can't play all 3 of your games in one week and you stray from your rotation when you make that game up, you will be given a loss.
You can not use a starter to relieve ever! You assign your 3 starters and use them as you see fit. In other words if you have a game against the Mets and you want to use your lefty, go ahead. Just don't use him again until the next week. You can start your starters in any order as long as they only pitch once per scheduled week.
Each week of games on the schedule is it's own week, meaning that you can not mix games from week 2 and 3 and use that as your criteria for deciding a promotion.
You may not pitch the same starting pitcher more than once a week, no matter how short he lasts in his outing.
It's your responsibility to know who pitched when.
Attempts to get around the pitching rotation rules will result in forfeits for your team. For example, if it's noticed that you are pulling your starting pitcher in the 1st inning of every game and putting in a strong reliever, you will forfeit those games. Also, doctoring of pitching stats, i.e. you "conveniently" forget to submit stats for a pitcher falls into this category.
You may change the starting pitchers as often as you like throughout the season, but you must do so while playing within the pitching rotation and trade rules.
Roster Rules
You must check the roster page for a new roster download before every game, it's your job to make sure that you are using the Current League Roster before playing the game.
If you play in multiple leagues, you will need to swap our league rosters in before playing your league game. Splinter239 can show you a cool way to switch rosters before a game, with some creative use of batch files!
Do not attempt to alter a players settings using the Player Editor. We can all see each others attributes so if you are caught cheating you will be removed from your team.
Once the MVP league
begins a season, Events in Major League Baseball, are ignored. This means that if the season begins today and Sammy Sosa hurts his arm on sunday and goes out for the season, you can still use him. But if he is hurt before the final league rosters come out he will be removed from your teams roster..
Statistical updates of players will never be done during a season, so please don't ask.
Roster mistakes happen, if you see a problem in the rosters let us know.
Scheduling Rules
This season is 10 weeks long and the schedule will be released on Sunday of each week.
The games will be posted on your Team Page.
Games that go un-played for an extended period of time will be reviewed by the staff and judged accordingly.
When the Schedules are posted you should EMAIL or POST in the FORUM to your opponent and setup a game time and day!
Connection Settings Rules
At a minimum, make sure you have at least a Pentium II based chip (or AMD equivalent) and at least 64MB of RAM in your machine. Exceptions to this are possible, but not likely. It's very important that you let the Commissioner know if you're lacking in either of these areas. Also, any type of 3D acceleration will definitely help.
We require at least a DSL modem and a minimum connection speed at least 200K to play. The best option is a cable modem, DSL, or higher.
The machine with the faster connection will ALWAYS host the game.
Pre-Game: Default Game Settings
For games played under Internet Fast, manual fielding, manual throwing will be turned on.

Batting LOW

ALL games will be 9 innings long! (unless you go into extra innings or the mercy rule is in effect)
You must play the game in the home teams park. No exceptions.
"Batting View" must be set to Low, "Fielding View" must be set to "medium".
Lineup Usage
You may not use any self-created players.
Please verify that you and your opponent have downloaded and installed the latest roster files before starting a game.
To determine if a player is eligible to play at a desired position.....Go to www.mlb.com (this is the new URL for Major League Baseball .
Hit the 'Players' link.
Enter the last name of the player you want to look up.
Find your player and hit the link to bring up his profile.
Scroll down to the 'Fielding Stats' section. Here you'll see all the positions a guy has played over his career.
If he's played at least 15 games in the last 3 seasons, including the current season, you can play him at that position.
Players labeled as "CF", "LF" or "RF" in the game may play any of the other outfield positions at your discretion. If you use a player labeled 1B as OF u will be bounced of the league cuz that is cheating.
BATTING RULES
You are only permitted to 5 atempt steal bases a game.
Sucide Squeezes are out of the question in this League. Now, steal attempts mean this. If you are trying to steal, and get on base safely, that is one attempt. It is also one attempt if you get picked off. I don't wanna hear no excuses of how it doesn't count cause your man got picked off. It WILL COUNT as an attempt. That's that.
In-game Rules
If you are going to complain about a manager throwing all balls
then this league is not for you. If I play someone and am tossing them nothing but garbage, and they keep swinging....who is the dumbass? Not me, that's for sure. So effective this season, I DO NOT wanna hear any complaints about balls being thrown in the game.

There's a bug in TPB that turns errors to 'OFF,' even if you've set them to 'ON' in the pre-game setup. You need to go into the PAUSE menu and manually turn them back on before the first pitch is thrown.
The ball cursor is banned in this league unless BOTH owners agree to its use in a game. This is an in-game tool that some owners utilize to basically tell them where the pitch is going to land, thus making it virtually impossible to strike them out. You must manually turn this on via the pause menu. Also, it's machine dependent, so just 'cause you don't see it, doesn't mean he doesn't. In short, if you see an owner go to this menu and you believe he has turned the cursor on, simply exit the game and let MVP League staff know about it!
It is suggested that you enter "Render Options" from the pause menu and set your render options to the "P200 Default" option.
You must allow the other team to get their desired leadoff. This means no "quick pitch." If someone is doing this to you please just ask them for time for your leadoff.
You will not be allowed to use a "Safety Squeeze Play" or "Suicide Squeeze Play" Never in the game. It is cheap and will not be tolerated. You may however use 1 "Delayed/Suicide Squeeze" during the course of the first 3 innings.
A "Suicide Squeeze Play" is when you have a runner on third and you have him steal home during the pitchers delivery and then bunt the pitch.
A "Safety Squeeze Play" is when you bunt with a runner on third without sending him home until "bunt contact" is made!
Post-game Rules
All owners must submit their game stats within 4 hours of playing a league game!
All owners are required to keep stats of their game DURING the game. This will protect you from losing your stats in the event of a disconnection. Download the "Stat Sheet"
When submitting a Save, remember that the score must be within 3 runs for it to be a save.
You may not disconnect from the game until you have verified with your opponent that he has all of the necessary stats recorded. If you have this happen in your game with an opponent, please let me know right away and I will warn the owner. If an owner receives 2 warnings for this offense, he will be dismissed from the league on the third occurance.
If you play multiple games of a 3 game series against the same team at one time, both owners must submit the first game BEFORE submitting the 2nd and also the 2nd before the 3rd.
Trade Rules
Trades must be one for one, no two for one or three for one deals allowed.
No pitchers for batters, however, you may build multi-player deals around this. This isn't because I don't want to allow it, it's because the Triple Play rosters will not allow it.
EA ratings will be the standard for this league. You may either reference the actual game or use the Player Editor for reference. No personal ratings systems are allowed in deal discussions.
You must maintain a player for each position on your roster. If you are short a position due to the draft, then you must trade for someone to fill that hole.

1. All trades must be within 8 rating points of eachother. This is to keep
things fair for everyone.
2. Pitchers must be traded for pitchers and fielders for fielders.
3. For a trade to be accepted, both teams must submit the trade with the same players invloved. Or the trade will be declined, immediatley
If it is determined that you lied during a deal about player ratings, you will be warned and the trade will be denied. It will even be reversed if it was originally approved. If you're caught a second time, we'll simply get someone else to manage your team.
Both owners must submit the trade for the trade to be approved.
Multi-team deals are allowed, but please specify that when submitting.
A player from a previous trade may not be traded unless that previous trade has already been approved and posted on the trades page.
You must carry three starting pitchers on your roster at all times, all of which must have at least a 65 or higher overall rating. Starting pitchers are identified with an 'SP' as their position (seen when choosing your pitcher before a game.).
You must always carry one starting pitcher who has at least a 75 or higher rating. This pitcher will be known as your 'Ace.'
You must always carry at least one closing pitcher on your roster. A closer is identified with a 'CP' as his position.
You must play with your new players acquired via trade once the trade appears as 'APPROVED' on the Trades page. Along the same lines, you may not play with your new players until the trade appears as 'APPROVED' on the Trades page.
We reserve the right to deny any trade that we feel is unfair.
